Agriculture ministry's allocation saw a reduction of 0.85 percentage point in terms of total budgetary allocation in the just-announced budget for 2015 fiscal year compared with that of the revised budget for FY'14.
Subsidy for the farm sector also decreased to 3.59 per cent in terms of the total outlay of the FY'15, down from 4.16 per cent of the revised budget for FY'14.
The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) got Tk 123.90 billion out of the Tk2.505 trillion in the FY'15, which was Tk122.79 out of the Tk 2.16 trillion for the revised budget FY'14.
The allocation was Tk122.70 billion in the proposed budget for the FY'14.
If compared with the allocation for the ministry in the last two financial years, the amount has increased by Tk1.2 billion.
The amount of subsidy has, however, remained the same of Tk 90 billion for the sector in the FY'15 as in the last fiscal.
The allocation for the ministry was Tk 148.22 billion in FY'13, which was 8.52 per cent out of the total budgetary allocation of the FY.
Farm subsidy was also nearly 120 billion in FY'13, a record allocation for the sector.
However, the farm sector (crop, vegetable, fruits) achieved 1.91 per cent growth of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in FY'14, which was only 0.59 per cent in FY'13.
Production target of grain (rice, maize, wheat) has been set as 37.78 million tonnes in FY'14, which was 37.26 million tonnes in FY'13.
