Massive plan to cultivate vegetables in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Sept 15 (BSS): Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up a massive plan to cultivate vegetables in the five upazilas of the district during the current season.
DAE sources said, a total of 4,540 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation with the production target of 67,000 tonnes of vegetables this year.
Of the total, some 1,600 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation in Sadar upazila, 2,000 hectares in Panchbibi upazila, 400 hectares in Akkelpur upazila, 290 hectares in Khetlal upazila and 250 hectares in Kalai upazila.
Deputy Director DAE AZM Sabbir Ibne Jahan said the department encouraged the farmers to cultivate poison free vegetables and necessary steps have been taken to ensure supple of quality seeds, fertilizers and other agri-inputs among the growers at fair prices to boost production of vegetables during the season.
