RANGPUR, July 9 (BSS): Speakers at the inaugural ceremony of a fair here have called for increasing production of crops and fruits to ensure food security, meet nutrition demand, alleviate poverty and achieve self-reliance.
They put emphasis on innovating modern technologies for cultivation of crops and hybrid variety fruits everywhere, including homesteads, through imparting training to farmers, men and women to further increase fruit production.
They were addressing inaugural ceremony of the three-day 'Upazila Agriculture Technology and Fruit Tree Fair- 2015' organised by the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) and upazila administration on Wednesday afternoon at Kawnia upazila parishad premises.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry Tipu Munshi, MP, attended the ceremony and inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
