MoU signed to increase trade ties with CIS countries

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed Thursday between Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) and the Commonwealth of Independent States - Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CIS-BCCI) to increase bilateral trade relations with the CIS countries with particular emphasis on Russia.
BFTI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ali Ahmed and CIS-BCCI President H.K. Kabir signed the MoU on the behalf of their respective sides at the BFTI office in the city, said a press release.
CIS-BCCI Senior Vice President Lokman Hossain Akash and Director Mahbub Islam, among others, were present on the occasion.
CIS-BCCI has taken the initiative so that export volume to CIS countries can touch US$ 10 billion by 2020, said the press release.
The press release said Bangladesh exported US$ 796.68 million worth of goods to CIS countries in 2014 which is 0.0016 per cent (US$481.89 billion) of CIS imports from across the world, it added.
