NARSINGDI, July 30 (BSS): Harvesting of jute has gained momentum in all the six upazilas of the district following adequate rainfall in the recent days.
The farmers are now engaged in separating fibres with much enthusiasm expecting high price of jute this season. A good quantity of newly harvested jute has started coming to the local markets. The farmers are happy getting excellent price of jute this season. The newly harvested jute is being sold at Tk 1,200 to 1,500 per maund depending on their varieties and qualities.
The market is expected to be flooded with new jute within 15 to 20 days as only 25 to 30 per cent harvest of the cash crop has so far been completed in the district.
