A large weight of teas was on offer of which the majority was plain end of season types. Buyers were more selective whilst teas with fair liquors were being sold at the tea market on Tuesday.
Plain and poor types were generally neglected. As a result, withdrawals were heavy in this category. Dusts were an easier market, the National Brokers said in a statement.
CTC Leaf: As many as 40,582 packages and 200 packages of Old Season, 10 packages of Orthodox and 140 packages of Green teas on offer continued to meet with less demand with price falling sharply.
Brokens: There was only a limited weight of good BOPs on offer which met with a fair interest but prices were lower by Tk 8 to Tk10 and more with some withdrawals. Small Brokens witnessed a similar trend and a large weight of it sold at a drop of Tk.10 and more with fair withdrawals. Medium and plain types saw a decline in price with a larger weight remaining unsold. Poorest varieties witnessed some support but prices were substantially lower with heavy withdrawals.
Fannings: There was a few good liquoring Fannings which initially met with a good demand, selling at Tk 6 to Tk 10 below last rates but with the progress of sale, these declined further with some withdrawals. Medium types met with fair enquiry but price declined by Tk 10 and more with some withdrawals. Plain varieties met with only some demand and where sold recorded a sharp drop in price and there were several withdrawals in this category. Poor types met with some enquiry but prices declined further with a lot of withdrawals.
CTC Dust: As many as 8,765 packages of teas on offer met with a fair demand. Good liquoring teas sold well but prices dropped by Tk 6 to Tk 8 following quality. Brown, fibrous and plain descriptions were heavily out-listed. Blenders lent fairly good support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
