Prices of broilers, farm eggs record rise

The price of broiler chickens and farm eggs increased with the increase in demand of these two items for the last one week, traders said.
"The demand of broilers and farm eggs increased following marriage, picnic, and tourists' visit to higher consumption of those for different places during winter season," Bangladesh Poultry Industries Coordination Committee (BPICC) convener Moshiur Rahman told the FE.
He said, "The price of a kg broiler was Tk 100 to Tk 105 which sold at Tk 115 on Tuesday. And the price of per piece of farm egg was Tk 6.0 that was sold at Tk 6.30 Tuesday at farm level."
Tejgaon Egg Traders Samity Ltd President Md Amanat Ullah said the price of 100 pieces of eggs was Tk 650 on Tuesday that was Tk 640 one week back.
Most of the eggs come to our samity from Tangail, Kishoreganj, Mymensingh and other districts.
Two pairs of eggs were sold between Tk 30 and Tk 32 Tuesday which was Tk 28 to Tk 30 last week.
The price of per kilogram of broiler is between Tk 130 and Tk 145 which was between Tk 120 and Tk 125 in kitchen markets of the capital.
Mazharul Islam, a retailer of Mohammadpur said he bought 100 eggs at Tk 700 and now the price is Tk 720 so he is selling at a bit higher price.
The demand of broiler and layer meat is around 2.5 to 2.6 million kilogram per day. Sometimes the demand doubles, according to industry people.
The production capacity of broiler and layer meat is around 2.6 to 2.7 million kg per day.
The daily demand of farm eggs is 27.0 million pieces across the country while its production is 27.3 million to 27.4 million pieces per day.
