RAJSHAHI, Sept 9 (BSS): Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) has enhanced its lending activities in potential fields for boosting agriculture production and flourishing poultry and dairy sectors
Official of the bank said this at an open loan disbursement and recovery programme at the bank's Sabaihat branch under Naogaon zone.
As the largest development partner in agriculture as well as agro-based industry sector of the northwest Bangladesh, the bank has adopted a work plan which is being implemented at the grassroots to make the credit programmes easier.
Headquartered in Rajshahi, the specialised commercial bank has been disbursing loans through its 377 branches for boosting crop production as well as generating employment through enhancing agricultural production in all the 16 districts under Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.
Joint Secretary of Economic Relation Division of the Ministry of Finance Saifuddin Ahmed and Deputy Managing Director of RAKUB Dr Abdul Khaleque Khan attended the function as chief and special guests respectively with Sudhangsu Sekhar Halder, Zonal Manager of the bank, in the chair.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Saiful Islam Khan, Union Parishad Chairman Nazmul Haque and Branch Manager Habibur Rahman also spoke.
On the occasion, farming loan worth around Tk 0.5 million was disbursed among 20 people.
The guest speakers emphasised the need for ensuring transparency and accountability in the lending activities alongside a hassle-free atmosphere.
They also urged the recipients to make the best use of the loan money.
