Regent Airways launched on Monday its mobile app, enabling its customers to use their mobile devices for booking flights and get their tickets issued.
The app could be downloaded from iTunes or Google Play Store.
Regent Airways Deputy Managing Director Salman Habib launched the app at a press conference at a city hotel.
Chief Commercial Officer Hanif Zakaria and Director (Marketing and Sales) Sohail Majid of the Airline were present on the occasion, among others.
"As a customer focused airline, we are constantly working on offering user-friendly solutions to enhance overall experience of our customers and meet their ever growing demands," said Salman Habib.
Using the App, the customers will be able to book their flights and have their tickets issued through using their IOS or Android mobile devices.
The passengers will receive their tickets through their e-mails. Besides, they will be provided with updated flight schedule and various offers from the airline.
In the next subsequent development phases, features like online mobile check-in, ticket re-issuing and refunds will be included.
By next year, customers will be able to issue their own boarding passes and board their flights themselves, check the flight status, get actual arrival and departure time information through the app.
Regarding threat from the Indian carriers on Kolkata route, Mr Hanif Zakaria said operations of more airlines will increase the competition and the traffic flow will increase.
He also said the cost of operating domestic flights is higher, resulting in higher fares. But the fares should be higher for sustainable operations of the airlines, he added.
Replying to queries regarding operation to the same destinations by all the airliners of the country, Mr. Sohail Majid said that three factors act as the drivers to select any destination - movement of the Bangladeshi labourers, leisure tourists and MICE and students. The load factor in the present international routes is more than 80 per cent.
Regent Airways started its journey on November 10, 2010. The Airline presently operates on Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Jashore and Saidpur routes in the domestic routes while international network of the airline includes Kolkata, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Doha and Muscat.
The airline is planning scheduled services to Guangzhou in China and Abu Dhabi.
Presently, the Regent Airways fleet consists of eight aircrafts - four B737-800, two B737-700 and two Dash-8-Q300.
