Rice procurement drive progressing in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, July 30 (BSS):  Boro rice procurement drive of the food department, which was launched in May, has been progressing satisfactorily.
District food department office sources said, the department designed a programme to procure a total of 26,333 tonnes of boiled rice from the enlisted rice mill owners in ten upazilas of the district this year.
Under the programme, 13 purchasing centers were set up in the government warehouses in the ten upazilas for purchasing rice at the rate of Tk 32 per kilogramme from the millers.
Meanwhile, District food controller Mohammad Rafizuddin said 20,000 tonnes of rice have been purchased through the centers till today.
He hopes that the rice procurement target would be fulfilled before the last day of the procurement drive - August 31.
