Shwapno, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, handed over a cheque for Tk 100,000 to Tahmina Aktar, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Anwara upazila, on Wednesday to support a surviving child.

A recent incident involving the rescue of two children from a roadside in Anwara upazila of Chattogram has drawn widespread attention, prompting an act of corporate goodwill by Bangladesh's largest retail chain, Shwapno.

Following the directive of the District Administration, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) promptly brought the rescued children to the office of the Deputy Commissioner. Tragically, despite receiving medical treatment, two-year-old Morshed died. The other child is four-year-old Ayesha Akter.

In response to the incident, Shwapno, as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, has extended its support to the surviving child. On Wednesday, Shwapno handed over a cheque for Tk 100,000 to Tahmina Aktar, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Anwara upazila, says a press statement.

The cheque handover ceremony was attended by Md. Mahadi Faisal, Deputy Director (Category, Growth & ESG) of Shwapno; Muhammad Tamim Khan, General Manager (Corporate Affairs); the rescued girl Ayesha Akter; and Tanim, the CNG auto-rickshaw driver who first found the two children sitting helplessly by the roadside in Mazargate area of Barkhain union amid severe cold on Sunday evening.

According to the children, a relative had left them there and disappeared.

Guided by a strong sense of humanity and social responsibility, Shwapno has consistently stood beside the underprivileged and vulnerable people of the country, and this initiative reflects that continued commitment.
