Spawn collectors active in Halda

CHITTAGONG, Apr 21 (BSS): Popular species of fish like Rui, Katla, Mrigel and Kaliboush on Friday released vast quantity of eggs in the river Halda, the lone natural fish sanctuary in the country.

This, according to experts, is the first event this year.

Fisherman Kamal Uddin Swdagor told the news agency that the fry collectors collected satisfactory quantity of eggs early Tuesday as mother fishes released vast quantity of eggs.

He confirmed that 2000 fishermen with 300 boats collected eggs on the first day of the season.
