Sylhet, Dubai to be linked by flydubai

Dubai-based flydubai will commence direct flights between Dubai and Sylhet on April 1 this year. The service will begin with five flights a week and will increase to daily starting May 4.

A press release to this effect says that primarily flydubai's FZ 595/596 will operate between Dubai International Terminal 2 and Sylhet's Osmani International Airport on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Later, from May 4, 2015, flydubai will operate daily between the two cities.

Economy class return fares from Sylhet to Dubai will start at $440 including 7kg hand baggage, while business class return fares will start at $1,300 and are inclusive of all taxes and 40kg checked baggage.

Commenting on the new announcement, Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said: "We are happy to welcome Sylhet, another previously underserved point, to our growing network of more than 90 destinations. This announcement sees our weekly service to Bangladesh grow to 34 flights, and we look forward to welcoming the people of Sylhet onboard flydubai."

The network of flydubai covers eight points in India, three points in Bangladesh and Pakistan, two points in Afghanistan, as well as Male, Kathmandu and Colombo, the capital cities of the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka respectively.

The Sylhet operation is in joint partnership with Bangladeshi airline Regent Airways.
