T-Aman cultivation in full swing

NETRAKONA, Aug 28 (BSS):  Transplantation of T-Aman seedlings is going on in full swing in all the ten upazilas of the district during the current Aman season.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said, a total of 1,11, 530 hectares of land have been brought under T-Aman cultivation in the district with the production target of 2.65 lakh tonnes of rice.
Of the total land, 590 hectares were brought under hybrid variety, 91,110 hectares under high yielding variety (HYV) and 19,830 hectares under local variety.
Apart from this, a total of 90 demonstration plots were set up on 90 acres of land in nine upazilas of the district for T-Aman cultivation.
Deputy Director of DAE Bilash Chandra Paul said farmers could transplant seedlings on more land exceeding the cultivation target as there has been adequate rainfall, supply of improved quality seeds and fertilizers in addition to logistic and financial support extended by the government on time.
