Tea auction kicks off in Ctg on Apr 25

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 06: Tea auction for this year will begin in Chattogram on April 25 next.

Following that, the second auction will be held at Srimongal on April 27 next.

The decision was taken at a coordination meeting of the Bangladesh Tea Board (BTB) held at its office in the Bayazid area of Chattogram on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Tea Board Chairman Major General Md Ashraful Islam chaired the meeting that decided to arrange a total of 45 auctions over the next one year.

Bangladesh Tea Board Member Dr Najneen Kawsar Chowdhury, Deputy Director Muhammed Madhul Kabir, Sales Officer Ahasan Habib, Assistant Director Mohammed Abdu-llah Al Borhan, Bangladesh Tea Traders Association Chairman Omar Hannan and Vice Chairman Md Iqbal Hossain addressed the meeting.

Also spoke at the meeting were Bangladesh Tea Association leaders Khorshedul Alam Quadery and Md Rafiqul Karim, Chairman of National Brokers Ltd M Saiful Islam, and Director of Tea Planters and Traders Association of Bangladesh Abu Kaosar Lavlo.

It may be mentioned that the tea production in Bangladesh is increasing due to the good natural climate.

The production increased last year compared to the previous years.
