Tea estate staff to see 5pc annual pay increase


The basic salaries of the Bangladesh Tea Estate Staff Association (BTESA) members will increase by 5 per cent per year, according to an agreement.
Apart from the basic salaries, their other financial benefits will also increase, said a press release of the Bangladesh Tea Association (BTA).
The agreement was signed between BTA and BTESA at the former's office in the capital on Tuesday.
The deal is effective for two years from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025.
Kamran T Rahman, chairman of BTA; Salek Ahmed Abul Masrur, senior vice-chairman of BTA; Tahsin Ahmed Choudhury, convener of BTA's labour health and welfare sub-committee; Md Jakaria Ahmed, president of BTESA; and Md Aminur Rahman, general secretary of BTESA, were present during the signing ceremony.
