Weekly tea sale sees widespread demand

CHITTAGONG, Dec 10 (UNB): Weekly tea sale here Tuesday was marked by widespread demand with Blenders operating strongly amid more interest from the Loose tea buyers.
Once again prices moved in Sellers' favour while good liquoring Dusts were again a strong feature of the sale, according to a market report.
CTC LEAF: 37,208 packages and 581 packages of old season teas on offer met with a strong demand at mostly higher rates.
BROKENS: Good Brokens were a strong market and were dearer by up to Tk. 5/- and more particularly the smaller varieties, and these could be quoted between Tk. 194/- and Tk. 198/-. The remainder were also a strong market at slightly dearer rates. Plainer types met with a fair demand with some withdrawals.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings were a strong market and were dearer often by Tk. 2/- to Tk. 4/- whilst Medium varieties were also dearer. Plainer types met with a fair demand but there were some withdrawals in this category.
CTC DUST: 6,540 packages and 22 packages of Old Season teas on sale met with a strong demand at mostly dearer rates. Good liquoring varieties were strongly competed for and were dearer by Tk. 5/- and more. All others sold around last levels in line with quality. Blenders lent strong support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
