Workers demand cut in bidi tariff

Bangladesh Bidi Sramik Federation formed a human chain on Monday to press for their five-point demand, including a cut in tariffs on bidi in the upcoming budget.

Around 1,000 workers took part in the demonstration held in front of the Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka, says a press release.

After the programme, the leaders of the organisation submitted a memorandum to the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue with a call to meet their demand.

Bangladesh Bidi Sramik Federation President Amin Uddin, Vice Presidents Nazim Uddin, Lutfor Rahman and Anower Hossain, General Secretary Harik Hossain and Joint Secretary Abdul Gofur joined the demonstration.
