The Public-Private Partnership Authority organised a workshop on the 'Draft Guideline for Small-Scale PPP Projects' at its training room at Agargaon in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The session brought together key stakeholders from both government and non-government sectors to discuss the potential and regulatory framework for smaller public-private collaboration models, says a statement.

Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the PPP Authority (PPPA), inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest.

In his remarks, Mr Islam emphasised that while the PPP Authority has successfully initiated several major infrastructure projects, there exists a significant scope for expanding into community-focused, small-scale initiatives.

The session was chaired by A K M Abul Kalam Azad, Director General of the PPP Authority.

Shahidul Islam, Sector Leader-Water at Stiching Netherlandse Vrijiwilligers (SNV), a Dutch Development Organisation in Bangladesh, attended the session as the special guest and shared his insights on small-scale infrastructure delivery through innovative partnerships.

The PPPA CEO noted that one of the key constraints in PPP implementation remains the lengthy transaction advisory process.

He urged the stakeholders to collectively explore practical solutions to reduce this timeline, thus accelerating project delivery.

He also called for enhanced collaboration in promoting the PPP model, noting that effective service delivery, particularly post-construction, can best be sustained through structured public-private partnerships.
