TRENTO, Italy, June 1 (Xinhua): Foreign investments are a "fundamental source of growth" for Italy, Italian Economy Minister Pier Carlo Padoan told Xinhua Saturday.
Padoan, who was the former chief economist at the Organisation for Economic Co- operation and Development (OECD), made the remarks on the sidelines of the Trento Festival of Economics, an annual event held in the northern city of Trento.
"There is an enormous interest in investing in Italy from foreign investors from all continents, which is an opportunity for our country," he said.
Padoan explained to Xinhua that Italy "must create the conditions to make investments attractive both from the financial point of view and easier in terms of efficiency of public administration, simplification of rules and doing business."
