A total of 16 commercial banks are set to join the refinancing scheme of the central bank to inject necessary credit into the jute sector, reports BSS.
Bangladesh Bank (BB) is singing an agreement today (Monday) with the respective banks to this effect, a BB press release said.
Under the agreement, the banks will channelise necessary fund to the jute sector from the BB's Tk 2.0 billion refinancing scheme. More banks will join the scheme in phases, a central bank official said.
Last week the BB signed agreements with 10 commercial banks to provide Tk 10 account holders with cheaper loan under the Tk 2.0 billion refinancing scheme of the central bank.
Another 22 banks will soon sign similar deals with BB for the same purpose.
