3-day Asian Tourism Fair begins on Sept 29 in Dhaka

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali was presenr as the chief guest at a press conference on Sunday in the city ahead of the three-day Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) scheduled to be held from September 29

A three-day Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) is scheduled to be held for the ninth time in Dhaka from September 29 aiming to encourage domestic and foreign tourists to travel and explore Bangladesh.

The international tourism fair will be held at the International Conven-tion City Bashundhara and end on October 1, said organisers at a press conference held at a city hotel on Sunday.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali addressed the event as the chief guest and said that the fair would play a very important role in the recovery of the tourism industry in the post-Covid-19 period.

The participation of domestic and foreign tourism organisations in the fair will increase the opportunity of great promotion of the tourism industry internationally.

Md. Mahiuddin Helal, Editor of the Parjatan Bichitra and Chairman of Asian Tourism Fair, presented the details of the Asian Tourism Fair in the press conference.

The fair will be held in cooperation with the Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and Bangla-desh Tourism Board under the overall supervision of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. The event is being organised by Tourism Bichitra.

Eight countries have already confirmed participation in the upcoming 9th Asian Tourism Fair. Around 130 different tourism organisations from Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, India, Bhutan, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Lithuania will participate in the ATF.

Among them there are more than 50 foreign organisations.

The fair will demonstrate various attractive travel offers, hotel, resort or package bookings including special discounts for domestic and foreign travel in the upcoming tourism season.

Among the organisations participating in the fair are hotels, motels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators and theme parks and many other entertainment establishments, organizers said at the news conference.

Apart from this, the fair will have tourism related seminars, Art competition for children, Business to Business (B2B) meetings. The fair will have cultural programmes from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Through this fair, there would be an effort to present a complete picture of the tourism industry to the visitors, organizers added.

The fair has its airline partner - Biman Bangladesh Airlines, hospitality partners Intercontinental Dhaka and Pan Pacific Sonargaon, adventure dining partner Fly Dining, cruise partner Dhaka Dinner Cruise, entertainment partner Fantasy Kingdom and transport partner Convoy Service.

Of the 9th Asian Tourism Fair, Prime Partner Country is Nepal and Partner Country is Thailand. Feature Coun-tries are India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Lithuania and fair host country is Bangladesh.

The secretary of the ministry Md. Mokammel Hossain said tourism organizations of Bangladesh will also get a special opportunity for promotion and publicity by this fair.
