43 companies receive ICSB Nat'l Awards

Winners of the 10th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence pose at the award ceremony held at a city hotel on Saturday. The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) awarded a total of 43 companies for their outstanding corporate governance practices as well as transparency and accountability in overall management. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi was present as the chief guest while Md Nojibur Rahman, Chairman, Capital Market Stabilization Fund (CMSF), and Tapan Kanti Ghosh, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, were present as special guests. ICSB President Mohammad Asad Ullah presided over the event.

The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has awarded 43 private entrepreneurs in recognition of excellence in corporate governance as well as transparency in overall management.
These companies were awarded in 14 categories at the 10th ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence ceremony held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday night, reports UNB.
Of them, Eastern Bank won the gold medal, Dutch-Bangla Bank got silver medal and BRAC Bank bagged bronze medal in general banking category.
In Islamic Banking category, Shahjalal Islami Bank got the gold medal, Standard Bank silver and Global Islami Bank won the bronze medal.
In non-banking financial institution category, IDLC Finance bagged the gold medal, Bangladesh Finance silver, and DBH Finance and National Housing Finance and Investments jointly won the bronze medal.
In general insurance category, City General Insurance bagged gold while Green Delta Insurance and People's Insurance won silver and bronze medals respectively.
In life insurance category, National Life won the gold medal and Pragati Life bagged the silver medal.
In pharmaceuticals and chemicals category, Beximco Pharma achieved gold, Square Pharma got silver and Renata Limited and Navana Pharma jointly obtained bronze medal.
In textiles and ready-made garments category, Matin Spinning won gold, Paramount Textiles silver, and Hua Well Textiles bronze medal.
In food & allied category, Unilever Consumer Care won gold medal, Golden Harvest Agro Industries silver and Olympic Industries got bronze medal.
In ICT category, ADN Telecom won the gold medal, Amra Technologies silver and IT Consultants obtained the bronze medal.
In engineering category, Walton Hi-Tech Industries bagged the gold medal, Runner Automobiles won silver and Singer Bangladesh won bronze medal.
In manufacturing category, RAK Ceramics achieved the gold medal, Marico Bangladesh silver and Lafarge Holcim won bronze medal.
In fuel and power category, United Power Generation and Distribution Company secured gold medal, Linde Bangladesh silver, and Doreen Power and MJL Bangladesh shared the bronze medal.
In service category, Eastern Housing bagged the gold medal, Unique Hotels & Resorts silver and Index Agro Industries obtained the bronze medal.
Apart from this, Robi Axiata won the gold medal and Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company bagged silver in the telecommunication category.
