The state minister informed the Parliament of the figures on Sunday quoting a Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics labour force survey report while replying to a question.

According to the 2010 survey, as many as 1.9 million educated youths were jobless.

The state minister also highlighted government efforts to alleviate unemployment and create jobs.

He said around 2.2 million youths joined the labour force each year.

Of them, 313 were national polls and the rest local.

Replying to another question, he said altogether 39,388 local and international observers had overseen these polls.
