655 hectares of land come under onion cultivation in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Jan 26 (BSS): Onion has been cultivated on 655 hectares of land in four upazilas of the district during the current winter season.

The four upazilas of the district are Chuadanga Sadar, Alamdanga, Damurhuda and Jibannagar.

Chuadanga district Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office source said, onion has been cultivated on 115 hectares of land in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, while 250 hectares in Alamdanga Upazila, 230 hectares in Damurhuda Upazila and 60 hectares in Jibannagar Upazila.

During this season, a total of 5,240 tonnes of onion would be produced in all the said four upazilas of the district.

Of the total, 920 tonnes of onion is expected to be produced in Chuadanga Sadar Upazila, while 2,000 tonnes in Alamdanga Upazila, 1,840 tonnes in Damurhuda Upazila and 480 tonnes in Jibannagar Upazila.
