6th PSDPCC meeting held at PMO

The sixth Private Sector Development Policy Coordination Committee (PSDPCC) meeting chaired by Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder was held at the Conference Room of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in the city recently.
At the meeting, Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) presented some reform cases on 'Import policy: some reform recommendations, procedurals simplification and widening of GSP scope, value addition criterion for all export sector in the import policy order, SPS certificate for agor-exporter's and rationalisation of use of security money for public for discussion and validation from both the public and private sector'.
The principal secretary laid emphasis on importance of categorisation of cold storage from the Orange A to Green and Orange B. He also gave importance for enhancing the list of imported food under mandatory certificates from BSTI for ensuring quality of food, as were proposed by the BUILD studies. He endorsed the problems of getting back the security money deposited to the government for availing different utility and public services.
Representative members of the committee from the Ministries of Finance, Commerce and Industries, BOI, Export Promotion Bureau, Bangladesh Bank, BSTI, PPP Office, SME Foundation and PMO were present in the meeting.
Vice president of MCCI, senior vice president of CCCI, chairman of BUILD, president of BIAA and president of BCSA were also present at the meeting. CEO of BUILD presented the papers.
BUILD is a joint initiative of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Chittagong Chamber of Commerce (CCCI) and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI).
