ABB nat’l seminar on banking today

The Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB) will organise a national seminar on banking titled "Future Vision" today (Saturday) at Radisson Blu Water Garden hotel in the city.

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman is likely to join the programme as the chief guest.

There will be two sessions in the seminar -- inauguration and discussion session. The discussion session will consist of two parts.

BB Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury will present the keynote paper on the future of banking in Bangladesh.

Managing director of Risk Solutions Pte, Singapore and former managing director of JP Morgan for ASEAN countries & regional head of Asia Pacific, Moody's KMV (Moody's Analytics) Jan Vasko will present the keynote speech on the future of commercial banking with special reference to emerging markets.

Editor of The Financial Express Moazzem Hossain, founder managing director of Islami Bank Bangladesh M Azizul Huq and chairman of the department of economics at the Dhaka University Dr MA Taslim will join as panel discussants in the first part of the discussion session.

In the concluding part of the discussion session, chief executive officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh Jim McCabe will present the keynote paper on technology and virtual banking in Bangladesh.

Director of the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM) Prof Dr SM Ahsan Habib, former BB deputy governor Muhammad A (Rumee) Ali and professor of the department of computer science & engineering at the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) Dr M Kaykobad will join it as panel discussants.
