Abdul Karim elected Chairman of MIDAS Financing

Abdul Karim has been elected the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MIDAS Financing PLC for a period of two years at its 368th Board Meeting held recently, says a press release.

Mr. Karim had joined the Board of MIDAS Financing on February 28, 2017.

Mr. Karim obtained his B.A. (Hons) and M.A. degrees in economics from the University of Dhaka and has training in advanced accounting, management accounting, public administration, and small enterprise promotion at both home and abroad.

He is a retired secretary and served the government in different capacities. He also worked in the Ministries of Communications, Defence and Finance and held the posts of Member (Finance) and Chairman, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Director, Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation, Managing Director, Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation, and Managing Director, Bangladesh Shilpa Bank.

After serving the government for more than 31 years, he joined Micro Industries Development Assistance and Services (MIDAS) in December 1992 and discharged his responsibilities as Managing Director of MIDAS till December 11, 2011. He had also served as Managing Director of MIDAS Financing from May 1995 to April 2004.
