Accurate data for proper planning stressed

RANGPUR, Aug 31 (BSS):  Speakers at a meeting here said there is no alternative to accurate, authentic, reliable and timely statistics for proper planning, designing, monitoring and evaluating development plans at all levels.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) organised the regular day-long meeting of the Standing Committee on Census/Survey of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) at the conference room of the City Mayor here on Sunday. The meeting discussed about launching census on number of technical and vocational education and training institutions, number of students studying there and recently concluded census on status and situation of women in the city.

With City Panel Mayor Abul Kashem in the chair, its Secretary Fazlul Kabir delivered  the welcome speech in the meeting and narrated the progress achieved so far in conducting census on various sectors by RCC with BBS assistance in the city.

Joint Director of Rangpur Divisional Office Nasir Uddin Ahmed, its Deputy Director Ala Uddin Al Azad and Deputy Director of the National Strategy for Development of Statistics (NSDS) Md Kamruzzaman addressed the meeting.
