The Agrani Bank earned an after tax profit of Tk 9.05 billion in 2013.
Chairman of the board of directors of the bank Dr Khondoker Bazlul Hoque disclosed the figure while presiding over the seventh annual general meeting (AGM) of the bank in the city Wednesday, said a press release.
Additional Secretary of Bank and Financial institutions Division Amalendu Mukharjee attended the AGM as a representative of the Ministry of Finance.
Among others, members of the board of directors of the bank, the managing director & CEO and the deputy managing directors were present at the meeting.
The chairman said that the bank continued to grow steadily in all major areas in 2013.
Total deposit of the bank increased to Tk 348.68 billion from Tk 292.43 billion. Investment of the bank has also been increased to 149.93 billion from 92.42 billion, he said.
Agrani Bank is in the top position at remittance earning in Bangladesh among all state-owned commercial banks (SCBs). Remittance increased to Tk 126.57 billion in 2013 from Tk 116.81 billion in 2012, the chairman added.
Now non-residence Bangladeshis (NRBs) can send remittance by online through the bank's 903 branches, he told the AGM.
Addressing the AGM, the managing director expressed his gratitude to all customers, stakeholders, regulatory authority, members of the board of directors and executives, officers and employees of the bank for their continued cooperation and relentless efforts in achieving success for the bank.
The AGM approved the Financial Statements for the year that ended on December 31, 2013, Reports of the Directors and Auditors' fee for the year 2013 and the bank's activities and the result achieved in 2013, the release added.
