Export and import operations at the Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria remained suspended for two days from Saturday due to the repair of a bridge in the port area.
The port's Assistant Revenue Officer Md Mizanur Rahman, however, said passenger movement from Bangladesh and India would remain unhampered, reports bdnews24.com.
Regular "commercial activities" would resume on Monday, he said.
The Akhaura Land Port Importers-Exporters Association General Secretary Monir Hossain Babul said the decision had been forced by the need to repair a bailey bridge on the Jaji River close to the port. The work would be completed Sunday, he said.
Bangladesh exported products worth over Tk 2.26 billion to India's north-eastern state of Tripura through the Akhaura port in 2013-14.
The export items include cement, plastic products, dry fish, glass, agriculture equipment and jute and jute products.
