Alliance taps Chubb as top safety official

Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety has appointed Mark Chubb to serve as Chief Safety Officer to oversee fire safety operations and training in Bangladesh and guide remediation efforts in all factories from which its members source.
Mr Chubb is a certified professional with more than 30 years of experience in fire safety and emergency management. A seasoned expert in emergency response, crisis management and the implementation of fire safety training and emergency management programs, he has held leadership roles in public safety, firefighting and emergency management across the United States and in New Zealand.
A statement issued by the Alliance quoting its Independent Chair Ellen Tauscher said, "Mark will ensure that the Alliance continues to bring world-class expertise to factory remediation and fire safety programmes for Bangladesh garment workers.
"His role as an advisor will be critical to factories from which the Alliance sources, as they ensure compliance with our strict standards," she added.
"The Alliance is doing remarkable work on the ground in Bangladesh to improve factory safety and making changes that will protect millions of garment workers," Mr Chubb said adding "I am privileged to join this important and groundbreaking effort."
