Amirul Haque elected CCCI President

CHATTOGRAM, May 25: Mohammad Amirul Haque has been elected president of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) for a two-year term by the newly elected board of directors of the country's oldest trade body.

Besides, Md. Amzad Hossain Chowdhury was elected senior vice-president and Mohammad Moshiul Alam Swapan vice-president.

The election was held at a board meeting of the CCCI on Monday under the supervision of the Election Board.

Held at the World Trade Centre in the port city, the meeting was attended by the elected directors along with Chamber Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Md. Motahar Hossain, Election Board Chairman Monowara Begum and member Md. Hedayet Ullah.

Newly elected president Amirul Haque previously served as a director of the chamber for five terms.

He is the founder and managing director of Seacom Group and also the founder and managing director of Premier Cement Mills PLC. He currently serves as president of the Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association and LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh. Newly elected senior vice-president Amzad Hossain Chowdhury, proprietor of Rising Computer Scale, served as a chamber director for two terms.

He is associated with businesses in ship recycling, steel, transport and energy sectors and is managing director of several concerns under Rising Group of Companies.

Vice-president Mohammad Moshiul Alam Swapan, proprietor of Monowara Trading, is known for his involvement in business, sports and social welfare activities in Chattogram.

The elected directors include Kamal Mustafa Chowdhury of Raja Corporation, Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury of Eastern Apparels, Abu Haider Chowdhury (Amjad) of Chumki Apparels, Aman Ullah Al Chagir of Stevedore Friends Syndicate, Mohammad Akhtar Parvez of PHP Motors, Mohammad Monir Uddin of M Enterprises, Mohammad Sajjad Un Nawaz of Orchid Trading, Afsar Hasan Chowdhury of Public Electric, S M Saiful Alam of Chittagong Trade Agency, Md. Golam Sarwar of Prantik Marine Services Ltd., Md. Zahidul Hasan of Jar Trade, Asad Iftekhar of Turning Point, Md. Habibur Rahman of The Four Wheelers, A S M Ismail Khan of Falguni Traders Ltd., Captain Md. Alauddin Al Azad of Mars Maritime Services and Inspection, Md. Shahidul Islam Chowdhury of JSN Enterprise, Md. Nurul Islam of Swadesh Chemical Industries (Unit-2), Sarwar Alam Khan of Sahir Trade, Shahidul Alam of Standard Logistics Services, Mohammad Shafiul Alam of New Karnaphuli Trading and Md. Selim Nur of Zeco Enterprise.

The election to the CCCI board for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 terms was held on May 23.
