A three-day tourism fair of Asian countries will be held in Dhaka from September 11 to 13 to promote tourism of the region globally.
More than 16 Asian countries will participate in the show -- The 3rd Asian Tourism Fair -- at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka where organisers hope that around 150 to 170 tourism related organisations would attend.
"Linking regional tourism' is the slogan of this year's fair," said Mohiuddin Helal, chief coordinator of the show.
"The fair will help the tourism industry of Bangladesh strengthen networking mechanism with the industry partners of other Asian countries,"
Apart from Bangladesh, tour operators, travel agents, airlines, hotels and other service providers from the private and public sectors of most of the Asian countries including India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, China and Nepal will participate in the fair.
Monthly magazine Parjatan Bichitra is organisng the event in association with Bangladesh Tourism Board and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation for the third time in Bangladesh.
Last year only 9 countries attended the fair due to political turmoil.
About three seminars, cultural programmes and photo exhibitions will be held during the three-day Asian Tourism Fair.
Tourism Minister is expected to inaugurate the show. The Ambassadors from the participating countries will be present at the launching programmes.
Mohiuddin Helal said it is the time now to showcase and exchange the natural and cultural diversity, the bond of traditions, the colours of livelihood and share the scenic beauty of Asian countries.
He said the fair will help develop tourism linkage among all Asian countries and it would strengthen relations among industry partners, service providers, travellers and general visitors.
