Australia-Bangladesh Trade Confce in November

Bangladesh will seek more Australian investment during the upcoming bilateral trade conference to be held in Sydney this year, officials said.

The trade conference titled 'Australia-Bangladesh Trade Conference (ABTC)' will take place on November 12-15.

The Australia-Bangladesh Business Council and Bangladesh High Commi-ssion in Canberra will jointly organise the event.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi is expected to be present at the event.

He will lead a high-powered delegation comprising government officials and businessmen from the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

Australia and Bangladesh have been maintaining excellent bilateral relationships since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

A high official of the ministry of commerce (MoC) who is dealing with the matter told the FE that several sessions on trade and investment in different sectors would be held during the conference.

The delegation will also urge Australian investors to invest in the special economic zones (EPZs), he said.

According to the business circle, Australia is advanced in exploring maritime resources and other sectors. So, Bangladesh could learn from Australian experiences.

The total volume of Bangladesh-Australia trade has increased significantly over the years.
