Prices of coarse rice and egg increased on Friday compared with a week ago, according to traders.
They said that prices of a few vegetables and chilli witnessed further hike in the last seven days due to rain in crop- growing hubs.
Egg prices rose by 13 and 25 per cent in the capital's wholesale and retail markets respectively.
Growing demand coupled with supply shortage caused the price hike, claimed the market operators.

He said that it cost him Tk 700 to 750 per hundred pieces for the same egg few days before Eid-ul-Fitr.
