Bangladesh to be beneficiary thru\\\' transit: Indian envoy

BRAHMANBARIA, Oct 21 (BSS): Indian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Pankaj Sharan said here today that Bangladesh will mostly be beneficial if transit among India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan is introduced.
"By this time, talks on the matter are continuing. I hope that transit facilities will soon be introduced. For this, importance of Banglabandh Land Port in Bangladesh will more be increased," he said, adding that Ashuganj Container Terminal will soon be constructed and India will finance its construction.
Pankaj Sharan said this while talking to reporters on BIWTA vessel 'Turag' after visiting Ashuganj International River Port here in the district.
The Indian envoy said, "Survey in setting up of the container terminal is going on. I hope that work for its construction will be started very soon."
Directors of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Shafiqul Huq and Mohammad Hossain, Ashuganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sandwip Kumar Singha, departmental officer and assistant commissioner of Brahmanbaria Customs, Excise and VAT Department Md Ahsan Ullah, managing director of an Indian transportation contract company, Surfex Corporation, Sunil Kapoor and Ashuganj Port Inspector Md Shahalam were present, among others, during the visit.
