Banks, NBFIs urged to help cottage industries entrepreneurs more

State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan speaking as the chief guest at the seminar on light engineering sector organised jointly by BSCIC and NASCIB in the city Sunday.


State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan urged Sunday the country's banks and non-banking financial institutions (NBFIs) to provide more help to the small and cottage industries entrepreneurs for boosting their production.
He also assured the entrepreneurs of extending all kinds of support for the development of small and cottage industries.
The state minister gave the assurance while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on 'Strategic Planning for SMEs in Bangladesh of Light Engineering Sector' at the National Association of Small & Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB) conference hall in the city, said a press release.  
Light Engineering Product Business Promotion Council of Commerce Ministry and NASCIB jointly organised the seminar.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI) Vice President Md Helal Uddin and Joint Secretary of Commerce Ministry Md Sahabuddin Patwary addressed the seminar as the special guests.
Former member of Planning Commission Dr Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, Sukomol Singh Chowdhury, Md Abdul Wadud Bhuiyan and Senior Vice President of NASCIB Mohammad Mujibur Rahman also spoke at the seminar with its President Mirza Nurul Gani Shuvon in the chair.
Retired professor of Dhaka University Dr Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury moderated the seminar.
Managing Director of SME Foundation Dr Syed Md Ehsanul Karim presented a keynote paper at the seminar, added the release.
