DINAJPUR, Feb 23 (BSS): The Barapukuria coal-fired thermal power station with a capacity of 525 megawatt (MW) power has resumed its power generation activities in the district on Saturday after a five-day shut down. Chief Engineer of Dinajpur Barapukuria Coal-fired Thermal Power Station Md Abu Bakkar Siddique confirmed.
He said that power generation has started from unit number one of the Barapukuria power station since 12am on Saturday.
"This unit has the capacity to generate 125 MW power per day. However, it is currently producing 80 MW power per day," he said.
The generated power is being supplied at the national grid since midnight on Saturday, the Chief Engineer added.
Earlier, the operation of unit number one of the power station was stopped due to technical problems on February 17.
