BASIS to celebrate 20th anniversary

The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) has taken up gala programmes to celebrate the 20th founding anniversary of its journey.
The grand celebrations will kick off with the 'Youth Fest Amphitheatre' at Hatirjheel in the city on October 6.
Former BASIS president Habibullah N Karim announced the programmes at a press conference at the BASIS Auditorium in the city on Monday.
As part of the celebrations, BASIS will hold joint programmes with national, international, public and private stakeholders and publish a book on the history of BASIS, said Mr Karim, also the convener of the celebration committee.
BASIS president Syed Almas Kabir said the association will focus on the future prospect of the country's ICT sector and seek recommendations for further development of the sector during interactions with experts and participants at the celebration events.
The Youth Fest supported by BASIS student forum and BASIS women forum will feature 'Celebrating Women at Work', he mentioned.
"Besides, we are going to organise weeklong e-commerce festival offering special discounts for customers," he said.
Youth Fest's convener Delowar Hossain Faruk said they were going to arrange the Youth Fest in collaboration with the ICT Division under its 'Skill Development for Mobile Game and Application Project'.
About 7,000 students of BASIS student forum will join the Youth Fest featuring concert, demonstration of projects, TechTalk, and Skill Development for Mobile Game and Application Project Innovation Workshop, he said.
Students from school, college and university can join the event before 2:00pm on October 6, but they have to carry identity cards.
BASIS founding president A Touhid and BASIS senior vice president Farhana A Rahman were present at the press conference.
