CHITTAGONG, Mar 19: Bangladesh Bank has organised a two-day workshop for the officers of Authorised Dealer bank branches of the Chittagong region on "Integrated Supervision System (ISS) Reporting" in the Bangladesh Bank from Wednesday (today).
Bangladesh Bank executive director Mohammad Naushad Ali Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop. This is the second phase of the training for the bank officers on this software where some 350 officers will be trained.
Earlier in February, about 1,100 officers of the head offices and Authorised Dealer (AD) branches of different banks of Dhaka were trained.
Mr. Chowdhury said, through the ISS the Bangladesh Bank will collect branch-wise information on monthly basis. By collecting information through ISS, Bangladesh Bank will be able to know the updated position of the banks and perform different comparative analysis on banks.
This will help in focusing on the risks of the banks which will ultimately help the existing supervision of the BB and keep the banking sector more sustainable, he said.
"The data regarding deposits, loan, off-balance sheet items and credit growth will be analysed every month which will reduce the banks' risks and the inspection activities of Bangladesh Bank will be strengthened. The system will also help reduce irregularities of the banks," Mr Chowdhury said.
The training programme is being held in four sessions on Wednesday and Thursday. It has been organised by Bangladesh Bank Chittagong office.
Bangladesh Bank Chittagong office executive director Md Masum Kamal Bhuiyan and IT experts attended the workshop as resource persons.
