BCSA gets new chairman

Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of SHR Group has been elected chairman of Bangladesh Container Shipping Association (BCSA) for 2014-2016 session. He was elected at a meeting of the association on Tuesday. Besides, Shamim Ul Huq of Maersk and T Sivakumar of APL were elected vice chairmen of BCSA. Other elected office-bearers of BCSA are: Capt A S Chowdhury of Sea Consortium (general secretary), Mohammed Mahbubul Alam of NYK Line (treasurer), Faruber Anwar of Trident Shipping/Gold Star Line & Seth Shipping (member) and Bevin Mack of GBX Logistics/Hapag Lloyd (member). Also, the executive committee (EC) through an unanimous decision agreed to offer Mizanur Rahman and M Nurul Alam, honorary advisers to the immediate past EC, the post of BCSA honorary advisers for the 2014-16 term. BCSA, a trade body representing major container shipping agents of the country, accounts for about 60 per cent of Bangladesh's containerized export and import trade.
