Bangladeshi entrepreneurs need to focus more on diversified products and design development to attract more foreign buyers, said a top official of a Germany-based fair organising company.

"Bangladeshi goods have been becoming popular among the European customers," said Stephan Kurzawski, senior vice-president for consumer, goods and board member of the Messe Frankfurt Group.

It signifies that the country is capable to produce quality consumer products following better compliances, the visiting Messe Frankfurt official said.

He was addressing a press conference on Tuesday at a city hotel Dhaka.

Apart from the apparel items, the Bangladeshi-made home textile, jute goods, ceramics, handicrafts, leather goods and plastic goods are very popular among the customers, particularly in Europe, Mr Kurzawski added.

Explaining various aspects of the largest consumer goods show-Ambiente, he said more than 40 Bangladeshi companies will exhibit their products in the next show to be held in Frankfurt in Germany in February next year.

The next five-day 'Ambiente' will begin on February 08.

The companies from other countries are very much interested to set up their stalls besides the Bangladeshi pavilions as the country is very popular for its quality goods, he said.

Around 1,500 exhibitors from 55 nations will showcase their products at Ambiente, under the banners of Global Sourcing Dining, Global Sourcing Living and Global Sourcing Giving, he said.

Erdmann Kilian, director-marketing communications of the Messe Frankfurt, Omer Salahuddin, managing director of Messe Frankfurt Bangladesh, Nazneen Salahuddin, director communications, and Rumanna Afroze, head of operations in Bangladesh , were also present at the conference.
