Bangladesh and the United Kingdom (UK) have discussed ways to expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation, with a particular focus on attracting increased British investment into Bangladesh's fast-growing economy.

The discussions took place during a series of meetings held in London on Monday between Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun and senior British officials, according to a message received on Tuesday.

The BIDA Chief met UK Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade Sir Chris Bryant, MP, UK Trade Envoy to Bangladesh Baroness Rosie Winterton and Senior Vice President for Government Affairs at Airbus UK Oriel Petry.

Acting Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Dr. Nazrul Islam was present during the meetings.

The talks focused on strengthening economic engagement between the two countries and exploring new opportunities for investment and commercial collaboration.

The British side was briefed on Bangladesh's ongoing economic transformation, investment-friendly reforms and efforts to create a more conducive environment for foreign investors. The discussions also highlighted investment opportunities across a wide range of sectors, including manufacturing, infrastructure, aviation, renewable energy, technology and services.

Both sides underscored the importance of deepening economic ties and enhancing cooperation to unlock the full potential of the Bangladesh-UK partnership.
