DINAJPUR, Sept 14 (bdnews24.com): Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) have seized a large quantity of Phensidyl, Indian medicines, saris, clothes and detained four suspected drug traffickers.
Basudevpur Camp Commander Delwar Hossain told the news agency, "BGB have seized the smuggled goods and detained the suspects in separate raids in the early hours of Sunday."
The detained persons have been identified as Golam Rabbani (30) of Hakimpur Upazila in Dinajpur, Abdul Motaleb (42) from Shalkhuria Purahat village in Nawabganj, Hassan Ali (36) and Mahidul Islam (32).
Mr Hossain said, "A band of smugglers entered Bangladeshi territory at 3am crossing the 285/16 sub-border pillar in Hili.
The Basudevpur camp BGB personnel detained them at Muharapara field and seized 630 bottles of Phensidyl after chasing them."
They have been handed over to the Hakimpur police after filing a case in connection with the incident.
BGB official also said their personnel had also seized Tk 1.8 million worth of saris and medicines in separate raids.
The seized goods have been deposited to the Hili customs warehouse.
