Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) organised a day-long training programme on Arbitration Proceedings at its head office at Panthapath in the city Saturday, according to a statement.
BIAC organises training courses on alternative dispute resolution methods, namely arbitration and mediation on a regular basis in order to create  ADR professionals.
The Bangladesh government is keen to promote ADR as courts are over-burdened with cases and dispute resolution through court system takes long time. In recent years, Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad has enacted a few laws incorporating arbitration and mediation. The training programme was the second in the series of Arbitration Training organised by BIAC, while the first one was held on January 27. Barrister Akhtar Imam, Barrister Imtiaz Farooq and Barrister Nabil Ahsan were the trainers, while fifteen trainees from different law houses and companies participated in the programme.
