Biman\\\'s new MD set to take over in early Jan

Kyle Haywood, the new managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines, is going to take over his charge in the first week of January next, reports UNB.
According to sources at Biman, Kyle Haywood, managing director of Fastjet, a low-cost South African carrier, is set to be the next boss of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
"Inshallah, the new MD will assume his office in the first week of January next," AM Mosaddique Ahmed, a director of Biman, now serving as acting managing director and CEO of the national flag carrier, told the news agency.
A South Africa-born British citizen, Haywood served in traditional carriers such as British Airways and Etihad Airways, and low-cost carrier Air Arabia. He also served as the CEO of Air Uganda.
Biman, however, has not yet disclosed the salary and facilities to be provided to its new MD and CEO. But the sources said his salary would be almost like his predecessors'. The immediate past Biman MD and CEO used to receive Tk 1.8 million (18.30 lakh) as his salary a month.
The post of the MD and CEO of Biman has been lying vacant since April 17 last following the resignation of the first-ever foreign MD of the national flag carrier, Kevin Steele.
Steele was appointed the MD and CEO of Biman in March 2013 for a two-year term. He joined the national carrier on March 13. He was also provided with a flat in a posh area of capital Dhaka to stay, transport facilities and 12 free business-class tickets a year.
