BMCCI delegation meets State Minister for Finance

The board of directors of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI), led by its President Shabbir A Khan, called on Waseqa Ayesha Khan, State Minister for Finance, in her office in the city on Thursday.

During the meeting, the BMCCI delegation expressed their commitment for promoting trade, commerce, industry, and investment between Bangladesh and Malaysia through various initiatives, including organising investment summits, trade fairs, exchange of trade delegations, seminars and symposiums.

The BMCCI President informed the state minister of the chamber's efforts to reduce the trade deficit between Bangladesh and Malaysia. He mentioned that the BMCCI had been working relentlessly to widen the export basket and promote the export of Bangladeshi products and services in many ways, with the hope of achieving positive results soon.

The state minister acknowledged the BMCCI's efforts in strengthening the economic ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia. She assured the delegation that the Ministry of Finance was actively working to address the challenges and create a stable economic environment to attract and retain foreign investors. She emphasised the importance of transitioning towards renewable energy sources and stated that the ministry was making efforts to automate processes and improve the ease of doing business in Bangladesh.

Senior Vice President of BMCCI Anwar Shahid, Joint Secretary General Sifat Ahmed Chaudhuri and Director Sunil Isaac were present at the meeting.
