Border management for increasing revenue collection stressed

RANGPUR, Jan 26 (BSS): Comprehensive and well-coordinated border management has been suggested to increase revenue collection with a view to speeding up country's development and strengthening national economy also.
Speakers at a post-rally discussion meeting organised by the Customs Division of Banglabandha Land Port (BLP) marking the International Customs Day- 2015 here today gave the suggestion.
Assistant Commissioner (Customs) of BLP Abdul Alim spoke at the discussion as the chief guest, while Manager of Banglabandha Land Port Company Limited Kazi Al Tarek presided over it.
Among others, Tentulia Upazila chairman Rezaul Karim Shahin, President of BLP Exporters' and Importers' Association Mehedi Hassan Babla, President of BLP Clearing and Forwarding Agents' Association Rezaul Karim Reza and Banglabandha Union Parishad chairman Kudrat-e-Khuda Milan spoke at the discussion as the special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers lauded the role of Customs officials, administration, police, Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) and all concerned in ensuring excellent managements at BLP through well-coordinated efforts to increase revenue collection in recent years.
In his address, the chef guest said all of the stakeholders concerned have been working unitedly for expanding regional and international trade and commerce further with India, Nepal and Bhutan through the highly prospective BLP to benefit the nation.
The Customs Division of BLP has earned Tk 208.40 million during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (FY), 2014-2015 against Tk 122.80 million during the same period in the last FY, 2013-2014, he said.
