Prices of a few vegetable items, coriander seed and turmeric declined on Friday compared with the previous week.
Meanwhile, the new price of bottled soybean oil has been made effective which helped ease the price by Tk 12-13 per litre, traders said.
Coriander seed price has been cooling down after hitting a record Tk 260-280 per kg when its powder reached Tk 320-340 per kg in the retail market in November-October period, they said.
Md Shafiqe, a grocer at Nawabganj Bazar in the city, said the price has declined in the Moulvibazar wholesale market over the last two days.
He said newly harvested coriander seed started to hit the market, which might have helped ease the price.
He said price of the seed powder also decreased to Tk 280-300 per kg from Tk 320-340 per kg a few days back, he said.
According to the Department of Agricultural Marketing (DAM), between January and June of the year, price of the spice doubled to Tk 200-220 per kg.
The seed price increased to Tk 260-280 in October-November period and its powder to Tk 320-340 per kg, DAM data showed.
Prices of both turmeric seed (known as 'shoot') and its powder reduced by Tk 20-30 at per kg on the day.
Turmeric powder was sold at Tk 180-190 per kg, which was Tk 210-220 per kg seven days back.
However, prices of packaged coriander and turmeric powder of different brands were yet to be eased, retailers said.
Price of bottled soybean oil has declined by Tk 12-13 per litre with the implementation of the price fixed by the ministry of commerce.
It took one and a half weeks to implement the newly-fixed price, said the retailers.
Soybean of different brands like Rupchanda and Teer sold at Tk 100-102 per litre from Tk 113-115 per litre 10 days back.
Prices of tomato, local bean, long bean, brinjal, cauliflower, cabbage, turnip, swede, radish, potato (of current season) and chilli declined by Tk 5-20 per kg or per piece on the day.
Prices of leafy vegetables like spinach, red amaranth, green amaranth, radish plant, mustard oil plant, bottle gourd plant maintained a static trend and sold at lower prices.
Tomato of different varieties was sold at Tk 40-60 per kg, local bean at Tk 30-40, long bean at Tk 30-40, swede at Tk 35-40, turnip at Tk 25-30 and radish at Tk 12-15 per kg on the day.
Traders said production of vegetables is considerably good this year due to favourable weather, which has helped get those at lower prices.
Prices of most other essentials were almost static on Friday compared with those of the previous week.
